AAFS Academic Internship Program
AAFS believes in the power of education and community-building. As such, we offer internship and practicum experience for both graduate and undergraduate students, and have welcomed students from multiple academic programs.
AAFS has developed a rigorous program, with students ultimately managing all clinical case work responsibilities. Students participate in an intensive orientation and training with focused instruction on various modalities and insight into serving special populations. They receive weekly individual and group supervision, and are required to participate in monthly in-service training, staff case-consultation and psychiatric consultation meetings.
We are committed to cultivating a diverse student population, believing that this strengthens our organization and better serves our clients. AAFS especially encourages non-traditional students, students from ethnic and cultural minority groups, students with a military background, and students with a special interest in working with underserved populations to apply.
We invite inquiries from students in Doctoral or Masters Programs in Psychology, Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy. We offer 9-month or 12-month practicum/internship opportunities, with a 20 hour weekly commitment. Additionally, we provide more intensive Pre-Doctoral and Post-Doctoral training opportunities.
We also have opportunities for those seeking an internships in the chemical health and family services fields.
